Thank you – I’ve received a lot of positive feedback from staff who attended the HSR course.

They found the presenters to be excellent – engaging, informative, and highly effective in delivering the content. Many went into the course expecting it to be heavily focused on legislation and were bracing themselves for a long, dry week. However, they were all pleasantly surprised by how engaging and practical it was.

The course has left them feeling energised and much more confident to continue in their roles as Health and Safety Representatives, with the knowledge and support provided.

I’d be very interested in receiving information on any other courses you may be running in the future.

WorkSafe has initiated the first four prosecutions under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020, which came into effect in March 2022. Wesbeam Pty Ltd, a manufacturer of engineered wood product, has been charged with failing in its duty while in control of plant and consequently causing serious harm to an individual. Haulage and crushing contractor MLG OZ Limited and mine operator Evolution Mining (Mungari) Pty Ltd have both been charged with failing to ensure the health and safety of a worker and, by that failure, causing serious harm to an employee.

Under the transitional provision 397(5) of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020, persons who were a HSR or a HSR-elect immediately before the commencement of the WHS legislation on 31 March 2022 continue to be a HSR under the new legislation until their term expires or for no longer than one year from commencement day.
