What can Apollo profiling do for your business?

Whether you're hiring people or helping team members understand themselves and their relationships with others, traits such as personality, intelligence, attitude, and beliefs are significant characteristics to measure and assess. It can be worthwhile assessing these less obvious qualities to highlight motivators and values of potential and existing employees.

One way to gather this information is through Apollo profiling tests. For example, if you want to determine someone's attitude, by using an Apollo profile test, you are able to make a more objective and impartial judgment.

Advantages of incorporating an Apollo profile test in your hiring or supervision activities?

This test saves a great deal of time. It is very easy to administer, and can be given to a group of people easily. Apollo tests are also easily scored, so results come back quickly and reliably.

An Apollo test can be used for a variety of purposes.

•Selection of personnel – Apollo can help recruiters and hiring managers determine candidates who best fit a position. Personality, aptitude, and knowledge tests are all very common in this type of testing situation.

•Individual development and training – Apollo tests can help you determine how best to improve current skills and performance.

•Team building and development – This area can provide many uses for Apollo tests. The better people understand themselves and others, the better they can build and maintain positive workplace relationships.

•Career development and progression – An Apollo test can help you uncover values and interests that are fundamental to overall career satisfaction.

Coach? Doesn't training work?

E-mail Print PDF

In this day and age we depend on frontline supervisors and managers to deliver outcomes, to help the business achieve its goals and to help achieve a better bottom line. Therefore, the skills of people are critical in making these things happen.

However there is sometimes a major difference between what the individual thinks as appropriate application of skills and that of their managers who may see things from an entirely different context.

Coaching helps people to become better applicators of their skills, it also assists people to further develop their understanding and application of their weaker areas. Coaching helps people to become more professional, more confident and more likely to succeed.

Wikipedia describes training as;

The term training refers to the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies as a result of the teaching of vocational or practical skills and knowledge that relate to specific useful competencies.

Wikipedia describes coaching as;

Managing is making sure people do what they know how to do. Training is teaching people to do what they don't know how to do. Mentoring is showing people how the people who are really good at doing something do it. Coaching is none of these - it is helping to identify the skills and capabilities that are within the person, and enabling them to use them to the best of their ability.

So, coaching can create a higher level of understanding, increase confidence and self esteem and develop higher levels of application. Training is important because it gives us the skills and knowledge to be more successful, the coaching helps us to perform at the level required with more confidence.

Many people have responded with as little as two hours of on the job coaching while others will soak up as many hours as you can provide.

In order to change an attitude though it may take time and the coaching may need to be integrated with some performance management techniques administered by the manager.

We have plenty of evidence to show how coaching has supported training and lifted the application of the individuals it is applied to. Should you ever wish to discuss how coaching may assist your business, please do not hesitate to call me.
